Prize Giving

Anya and Mckenzie received an award for academic achievement.  Eli and Freyja received an award for consistent effort.  Angel received her award for Faith in Action.  Congratulations!

As I said at prize giving, I am proud of ALL the students and I really wish that I was able to give many more awards.  You have all worked hard and have come a long way in such a short time.  Keep up the fantastic work next year.

A number of children received a certificate for 100% attendance.  Sorry I don’t have pictures of you all.

Reminders + lost property

Tryathlon – 1:30 Thursdsay

Remember to bring
-your bike or scooter
-your togs and towel
-your hat
-a big drink of water

Bikes/Scooters need to be taken to the field in the morning. Along the wooden fence there will be room numbers with a section for your bikes/scooters to go.

Lost sandals

We have misplaced a couple of pairs of sandals today.  One complete pair is missing, and two children have one sandal missing!  Could you please check in your child’s bag and see if they have picked up an extra sandal or two by mistake.

A pair of new PE shorts were left in our room this afternoon and a Mackillop PE top.  Please check to see if they are your child’s.

Book Bags

The children no longer need to bring their poem books to school.  We will be doing Christmas crafts and fun activities for the next few days.  I will give out the reading logs and send the rest of the children’s art work home tomorrow.

Athletics Day

We had a great morning at our Junior School athletics.  All the children received a participation certificate.  In the Junior School, the focus is on participation and practicing the various skills.  It was a big morning and I'm sure the children will sleep well tonight.  Thanks Tia for the photos.  Just look at all those lovely smiling faces.  😊

Thanks for bringing all the yummy food for our shared lunch.  There was certainly plenty to go around.  Having a leisurely lunch was a lovely way to finish off our athletics day.

Carols on the Field

The sun was shining today and we had a great morning singing Christmas Carols on the field.  Room 9 and 10 were the first to perform and they did an absolutely amazing job!  Well done everyone.

Week 9

Week 9

Our final week.  I am so proud of how far the children have come this term.  They are a neat bunch of kids and have all settled into school really nicely. I hope they have enjoyed their first term at St Mary’s School.  I wish them all the best for Year 1 next year.

This week is going to be fairly busy.  Mr Macmillan would like to remind everyone that school magazines are able to be purchased for $5.  There are a limited number of these printed each year, so once they are sold, that’s it.

Swimming  Although it is not our swimming week, bring your togs in case the sprinklers are on during lunchtime.  We will have the sprinklers on after lunch on Wednesday to cool off after our athletics.  The children will need their togs on Thursday for the tryathlon.

The week ahead:

Monday 11th Dec:

9:45 Principal’s Morning Tea.  It was a very hard choice to just choose only three students.  The children who will be going are Mckenzie, Nate and Freyja.

11.15am -Christmas on the Field Concert - all welcome.  All classes will be singing a Christmas song.  Room 9 and 10 will be singing He Has a Red Red Coat and Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney.  If your child has a Santa Hat they are welcome to bring it along.  Don’t worry if they don’t 😊.

Tuesday 12th December

9am Prize giving.  You would have received a note on Friday with your class placements if your child is receiving a prize.  It was SO hard to choose just five children for the various awards.  Everyone has tried really hard this term, and I am proud of you all.

Wednesday 13 December:

9:30 – 10:00 Meet the Teacher.  The children will meet their teacher for next year and get to see who else will be in their class.

11:15 am Junior School Athletics Day  If your child has a PE uniform, that is great, otherwise please bring shorts and a t-shirt.  Please put sunblock on your child before school and it would be a good idea to bring a rash shirt if you have one, for our fun with the sprinklers in the afternoon.

End of year shared Christmas lunch - Wednesday Can each child please send a small plate of food to share for this.

Thursday 14th December:

1:30 pm. Junior Tryathlon  (the middle and senior school will be having their tryathlon in the middle block).  Junior children will swim 1 width of pool, scooter or cycle 1 lap of astroturf and run once around the field.  Children will need to bring their own scooter or bike.  Once again please put sunblock on your child before school and it would be a good idea to bring a rash shirt if you have one.

Friday 15th December: Missioning of Year 6 students, SCHOOL FINISHES AT 12.00PM  If you require your children to be in after school care, please contact Mary-Ann Roling on 021 121 5599 to book in.

Wednesday 7th February 2018: Schools starts for Term 1 2018

As there is so much going on, please check the blog during the week in case there are any changes.

Big Day Out

We had a great day out at the Blue Lake today.  I was really impressed with the children's behaviour and also the neat way they interacted and supported one another in the water and on the playground.
We certainly can't complain about the water being too cold!

Thank you once again to all those parents who took transport and helped supervise the children during the day.  Without you, we wouldn't have been able to go.
